Find a group of people that are committed to their health and fitness and who regularly get together for workouts. This could be a class at your gym, a running, soccer, or cycling club, or maybe a group of CrossFitters (www.crossfit.com) that get together at a park. At first it might be a bit uncomfortable - you won't know anyone, etc... but as you assert yourself, ask questions, learn peoples' names, and regularly show up, you'll start to feel more a part. Believe me, there's nothing like working out or training with a group of your peers for motivation and inspiration!

Most of the time, the biggest obstacle for people wanting to get fit or improve their fitness is simply SHOWING UP consistently. The next hurdle - building and maintaining momentum. And lastly, it's setting goals just outside their comfort zone. Training with a group helps with all these things - and when you've chosen a group with members that are slightly fitter than you, will regularly remind you of your commitment to improve. The desire to show up and to keep up with your peers or friends is motivating, challenging and above all, FUN!
