Pick some physical activity that requires your attention. Playing left field in softball might not do the trick. Any game or activity that is constant - basketball, tennis, even ping-pong, any activity that requires your mostly undivided attention will do. Now do it regularly. Have a set game every week. If you set-it, you will look forward to it. So on Monday when you are stressed and in need of an escape, and you know you have your game on Wed - I bet you will feel better jut knowing you have something to look forward to. Then you will feel better on Thursday because you had your escape - enxt thing you know, it's the weekend.
I don't watch much TV. I find TV for the most part 'dumb'. I end up just sitting there half paying attention, and half zoning out. My mind end's up on other things and I end up thinking about things that I should be doing instead of sitting there doing nothing. In sports (or the gym or any activity that engages your brain) you have to focus on the tas kat hand, you do not have the ability to think about things that are not nec. at that moment in time. Going to the gym in the morning let's me start the day clear headed and relaxed.

I recently purchased a home that has a fairly large back yard and front yard for Southern California. This means some work as I have decided not to hire a gardener. Although there is physical labor involved, I have found that it has become a great escape. When I am working in my yard I tend to be completely relaxed and focused on what I am doing. I am not bothered by the usual stresses of work or deadlines, and I now actually look forward to the work on the weekend as an escape. I also like the reward of having a great looking yard, and the satisfaction of knowing my neighbors are paying money for the same results. I never thought physical work could be relaxing, but it has become my favorite way to escape!
