For the past 3 days, 3 different people have started talking about their diet with me including the problems with dairy, meat, and digestion. I'm not really quite sure why, but I feel like its worth checking out. I'm already not a big 'food' person, so with that in mind, I figure why not try putting in the right foods instead of the wrong ones.
I will have more energy. I will feel healthier. I will eat to nourish my body. I will appreciate what food has to offer. I will learn more about my body.
Hey Beth,
I applaud your curiosity, and I am interested in learning if you have had any discernible results from your experiment. Do you feel differently when you eat various foods? Do you have more energy, or less stress, or perhaps some kind of other surprising result? I am very interested in your experience. Many people tend to go into a kind of trance when they eat, mindlessly filling the void the same way we fill our mental void with television or Hollywood blockbusters. This may be filling, but it's certainly not nutritious. Is conscious eating more nutritious? Tell me! We humans somehow are conditioned to turn off the awareness when we are eating. It takes a great deal of awareness to maintain a sense of presence and remain attuned when we are eating. I'd be interested in learning more about your results, if any.
I have been taking small steps toward changing my eating patterns.
Here's what I have done so far:
1) Decreased, almost cut out all dairy intake.
As a lover of basically all things dairy, this has not been easy, and really I don't feel much different. I did however, forget about the dairy thing and got a milkshake and felt very sick afterward... but that was a milkshake.
2) Increased my veggie intake.
Instead of eating carbs or meats, I've opted for veggies. This has proved a struggle since my body does not seem to want to digest veggies at all and I actually end up feeling sick afterward.
All in all, I am going to keep trying, but I do think I need some additional guidance in this area.
