Over the past few weeks, my stress level was sky-rocketing. I wasn't sleeping. I wasn't eating. I was barely exercising. And as a result I was feeling incredibly out of sorts.
I'm not a religious person by nature, but I know when my soul needs some nurturing. That is when I picked up the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I devoured that book in just a few days. I felt as though I was on the journey. I laughed. I teared up. I was able to lighten my mood with her insight and guidance. In this book she travels to Italy, India and Indonesia, she encounters some very unique people and some exciting places. Most of all, she comes to a very real place within herself. She is challenging, then forgiving and then honorable.
This made me think about my own situation and the heady space I had been living in. It made me more easily forgive my flaws and honor the person that is me. I felt lighter after reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who could use a little excitement, a little joy, a little.. lift.
Sometimes a little non-reality can restore the clarity that you need.
