Every person has the ability to conjure up a creative vision. It's not rocket science, nor is it some kind of new age mumbo jumbo. You don't need a life coach to tell you how to do it. Just pay attention to the quiet side of your brain, the visual right side of the brain. Still the incessant chatter of the logic-based left brain. Now concentrate calmly on the creative design problem you are trying to solve, and summon up the first visual image that appears. What do you see in your mind's eye? Record it. Summon another and record it. You might be a little rusty at first, but soon you will have developed the facility to visualize.
Everyone has an innate capacity to conjure up visions. But most of us let the capability wither after 5th grade. We get too busy in our workaday work. All you have to do is go back there and reconnect with your youthful capabilities. You have all of that playful creativity at your fingertips, just waiting to be unleashed.
Creative visualization sounds like a hoax, at times. Yet, I've tried it...with BIG things and it worked to a tee. The key is specificity and capturing the feeling quality as opposed to the mere idea of a thing.
In my case, I had a falling out with a dear friend. For years, there seemed to be no hope of a reconciliation. Oceans would have to be crossed both literally and figuratively and it seemed impossible to clear up the confusion without receptive hearts. Nevertheless, I read the literature and I kept visualizing the reunion. I pictured a room with white curtains and a beautiful stretch of sand and water for our viewing pleasure. I pictured simplicity, laughter, and the love between two friends. I set the stage as though the healing had already taken place. More importantly, I felt it, avowed it as so, and went about my life acting in goodwill accordingly.
Just weeks ago, I was shocked when I walked into the same room that I pictured way back when (in my mind) with my friend. The curtains nearly freaked me out and the view of the beach was as priceless as I had envisioned. It was a magical weekend; filled with wonder and awe.
I learned that the universe will give you the closest rendering of your imagination. The time and place are really not ours to know because being surprised is way more fun.
Great tip Cool Breeze...I see the curtains billow out as I write that.
