I have always worked a job, a 9-5, monthly paycheck, earned income, yet limited income. I have never made enough money to pay my bills, to support my lifestyle. I earned a Master's Degree from a Ivy League University. Great education, however at a great cost! I came out of school in debt and have been in debt since 1979. I want all of that to change. I want to be out of debt by earning unlimited amounts of income. Discovering how to do that my way and be successful at it, is the question.

Support, ideas, suggestions, pointing me in directions I may not have looked at before. Exposing me to new ideas!

Hey Maria.
Financial freedom is a great goal to have, and it certainly takes a sustained effort over time to achieve.
My biggest piece of advice is to begin the habit of paying yourself first, even if it is a small amount at first, by taking a percentage of your earnings (after taxes) right off the top, BEFORE paying your bills and place it into a "financial freedom" account, ONLY to be used for income-producing vehicles. (Investments, businesses, real estate, etc.). Also, make a commitment to eliminating your debt, beginning with the highest interest rates first. Finally, be diligent and consistent with marketing your business to increase your income steadily. Remember, with all of these things, CONSISTENCY and PERSISTENCE is key!
My apologies if these were elementary suggestions, but I have found that simple is best, and when these 3 steps are implemented with focus, they really work.
Cheers!

use 0% credit cards. Keep transferring your debt and follow the rules on the cards. Call and question so you are only paying principal and not interest. Countrywide Bank is offering 5.30% interest on savings and higher on CD's. Yes they are on the verge of bankruptcy but.... Look on bankrate.com for interest rate offerings.

Thanks Greg...If I had followed the basics all my life, I might not be where I am now. Luckily I work for a mutual fund company so I learned a long time ago to pay myself first, when I was younger I did not see the point, but I did it anyway and today I am very glad I did.

The secret for me is to increase my income. So I appreciate your advice on marketing my business. I always believed and practiced the though that do what you love and the money will follow! Actually there must ve another step in there I missed til now.
:-)

Have a great weekend

Thaks for the suggestions. I had to laugh though, Counrywide is my mortgage company. I have been with them for years and I can see now why they are in trouble!
:-)
Take care

Maria, what avenues have you identified to earn that extra 3k per month? If you haven't identified any, consider making a list of viable options and then narrowing your list to the top 2 that are a good fit for your interests, skill set, timeline..etc

Maria, it has been my experience that people that want to enhance their income come across ideas to accomplish this, but rarely act on them. Whether it is the fear of failure or maybe you are overwhelmed by the amount of work and research that needs to be done to get started. These are all things that most beginning entrepreneurs have had to overcome. One of my favorite quotes is "Procrastination is the thief of time and the graveyard of success." Make a plan and a time schedule to go along with it and stay on track. If it is in your budget a professional coach can help you set goals, keep you on track and hold you accountable for accomplishing your goals.
