My favorite healthy treats are dark chocolate and red wine. Filled with antioxidant flavonoids similar to green tea, the benefits of eating a small amount of high quality dark chocolate with a large percentage of natural cacao include:
-decrease in blood pressure
-improve circulation
-defends against free radicals
-improves digestion
-stimulates the kidneys
-soothes my sweet tooth
Red wine is also rich in antioxidants and one glass a day for me, a woman, and two glasses for a man provides these benefits:
-lowers the risk of heart attack in middle age by 30-50%
-raises the HDL cholesterols (those are the good ones)
-prevents the LDL cholesterols from forming (those are the bad ones)
-minimizes blood clots
-reduces blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits
-helps me enjoy my meal so much
If you want to live longer, look better, and enjoy life just a little bit more, enjoy a glass of red wine and a small piece of high quality dark chocolate. Isn’t it great to know that we can indulge ourselves with delicious pleasures and get healthy as a bonus?
