The many forms of boxing or sport fighting are viable methods for exercise and stress relief. There are several levels that you can get involved with – from the simple to the intense!

It all starts with a basic punching bag. It’s quite easy to put a smaller speed bag, larger heavy bag, or standing bag where you can get to it when you need to blow off some steam. You can also take a boxing class at a local gym or community college. There are nationwide offerings that cover every level. There are many types of boxing and fighting arts to branch out into. From karate, muay thai, and capoeria – just to name a few – its not hard to find a particular pastime that will not only keep you in shape, but reduce stress.

For the more advanced or intense athletes, MMA (mixed martial arts) has gained popularity quite rapidly over the last few years. Traditional boxing at more intense training levels will also satisfy those looking to have a more rigorous workout.

In addition to participation, sometimes partaking in the spectator aspect of the sport can be a great stress buster. There are boxing and UFC matches happening throughout the year.
