It truly amazes me that there is no cure for the common cold!
It's something that’s so minor but a huge nuisance. It's highly contagious, keeps coming back, and seems to interrupt every aspect of your life.
So does anyone have a remedy that actually works? My mom's herbal remedy won't even work (and that used to always work).
Let me know people!!
Yeah - unfortunately it has to run its course! What works for me is tons of water and rest. A good night of sleep is definitely warranted here! Also, I follow the exercise philosophy - if the cold is only in my head then I get on the treadmill (at home - not at a gym where I could spread it) and try to sweat it out. If the cold is in my chest I don't try this though. I also make it a point to add extra vitamin C to my daily routine although the effectiveness is controversial in many professional eyes. Additionally, I drink hot teas with no sugar. I don't claim to be an expert but these ideas seem to work for me - whether truly physical or merely psychological. Good luck and feel better!
Hey Betty,
HOpe your feeling better by now, but if not check out a post from an Expert Susan Marque for Japanese Tea

I've never tried it, but this lady knows what she's talking about!

I usually start taking Airborne and bump up my vitamin C at the very first sign of a cold...or the first sign of someone around me with a cold. Often I can completely avoid the cold...or at least really shorten its duration. My kids won't take Airborne, but they will take First Defense, a product from a company called ChildLife (I get it at Whole Foods or the homeopathic pharmacy). When I'm out of Airborne, I'll take it, too. It tastes like a sweet tea and it works.
Stay well,
sharon
