5 Dysfunctional Love Stories of Professional Sports

Love and passion can be fickle and fleeting. Unfortunately, there is not always a storybook romance for every couple. Now, I am not trying to judge anyone and there are many details to each of these tales that I am sure are not in the public view. As onlookers, we are only privy to the information that is released by the media. In any case, here’s a list of 5 seemingly dysfunctional relationships:

1. Kobe and Vanessa Bryant: This NBA wife had her loyalty and love tested when her husband, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, was accused of rape. She sat by his side and held his hand during a tearful press conference addressing the allegations. Eventually, the charges went away.

2. Jason and Joumana Kidd: Another NBA wife, her husband Jason Kidd of the New Jersey Nets allegedly abused her. In fact, he actually admitted to losing control in an interview with ESPN The Magazine. In an interesting turn, the Nets later star filed a complaint against her for abusing their three children.

3. Wilt Chamberlain and many, many others: he claims to have had sex with 20,000 women! Yes, 20,000! When did he have time to play NBA basketball? How is it that Magic Johnson ended up with HIV and not Wilt?

4. Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra: Married for five months, Electra was arrested for battering Rodman! Huh? Charges were dropped but that had to be one wild night!

5. Chuck Finley and Tawny Kitaen: In yet another example that men are not the only ones arrested on domestic violence charges, Kitaen was charged with attacking the Cleveland Indians pitcher. Finley allegedly filed for divorce three days later.
