There are many ways to relax in a crowd! You may not realize that surrounding yourself by a large group of people is actually a great way to manage stress! My favorite is to make sure that crowd is at Dodger Stadium, the Staples Center, or a similar venue. Really, I’m not joking here! I find it is a great stress reliever to get some decent seats at a baseball game, grab some guilty pleasure food and drink, and hang out with friends. The relaxed pace of baseball makes it a great escape! Chances are you’re attending with fans that have the same interest level as well.

Sports not your thing? Why not make that crowd the opera or theatre (live or film)? What better way to manage stress than to lose yourself in the storyline? There really is no reason to panic in any of these situations – you are among like-minded individuals that are interested in enjoying a particular event. In addition, most of the time you’re among friends that also want to relax and have a good time! A cultural event is an excellent way to escape when you are feeling overwhelmed in your everyday life.

Concerts can be another story – but there is a caveat. If you are headed to a massive event with a big-selling band, you can’t expect anything but a big crowd! This is actually part of the fun of it! Again, you are with people who all want to do the same thing you do – so why not relax! If you are one of those who aren’t into this (or any situation described here), the best way is to avoid the situation completely! Why go if you’re just going to be unhappy? Avoid the crowd and watch the game at home, rent the DVD, or read a book! There’s no one to blame but yourself for your miserable time if you put yourself in the circumstances to begin with!

When I read your title, I thought it meant to relax in a social setting of a crowd. But after reading your blog, it definitely makes sense. People always think of stress relief as meditation with candles and soft music. However, I do agree that we can relieve stress though a crowded setting too. Thanks for a new idea.

Good blog. I think you have to enter a crowd in the right frame of mind to enjoy it!

Whenever I get in a crowd, I get more stressed out cause i have to push through all of these people to see what all of the commotion is about. And I noticed that the KKK was in the first picture. Or at least thats what it looks like...

Hi, I loved the picture of the crowd above. I was wondering who those people were and what was the cause of the gathering. Do you know? My favorite crowd is at the finish line area of the Boston marathon. Every bar and restaurant as well as the streets are filled with crazy revellers who are drinking and raising hell at an event which requires health, conditioning, and a "clean life" It's great fun to just walk around this huge crowd and yet be alone. I put the picture on my website purporting it to be a crowd waiting to get into the first estate sale that we ran. See it on the upcoming sales page. I agree. Loosing yourself in a crowd is a great way to relieve stress at times. I'm on sort of a tight budget at the moment, so what my brother and I like to do is check out sites like going.com. The site alerts you to what's happening in your area on any particular day and each day's events are divided by how much you're looking to spend. What I like to do is click on free events (because I'm cheap) and usually they have a bunch of art openings, which pretty much always means free booze! But they also have concerts, plays, and comedy shows as well. It's worth a look if you're looking to get out of the house and throw yourself into a group of people without hitting the wallet too hard.

Cult movie crowds are the best - you always meet interesting characters and end up having sweet stories to tell later!

The crowds I love the most are for cult movies that I go to pretty often. There is always so much energy from a crowd of folk who have seen a certain movie over and over again and just want to exclaim love for it. If anyone lives in or near the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend looking up "The Room"
