What Your Sleeping Positions Reveal About Your Relationship
Do you like to snuggle up to your honey under the covers, or are you the type who needs your space? Your behavior in bed may be trying to tell you something important bout the health of your relationship.

The closer you feel about your partner the closer you want to be with them when you sleep, the worse you feel about them, the further away you want to be from them.

I never really thought of sleeping this way, but I guess it makes sense. I like my space both in and out of the bed. But don't little things like comfort matter to? I mean its not too comfortable to have someone breathing down your neck as they spoon you, but then again, i guess to some people, it may be?!?!

I think the take away here is that these positions apply more to going to bed than necessarily how you finally go to sleep. Many people prefer their space when sleeping and that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with their relationship. You comment did remind me of one of the top 10 habits that happy couples have, i.e. they go to bed at the same time (even if one goes to sleep and the other then goes on to read, watch TV, work, etc.).

Wow.. then I am really screwed. Me and my partner don't go to bed at the same time either! I guess I should go read the article here that talks about why men LIKE to date Independent Woman! hahaha

I've always paid close attention to this. People can't hide their subconscious patterns. I much prefer being the one being snuggled after than having to chase my partner across the bed in search of some spooning. In fact, they way we sleep tells me so much more about the relationship.
I love this idea and agree that in many relationships a lot can be determined by the intimacy we seek/reciprocate at bedtime. Perhaps it's best to remember, however, that like all other times of day, bedtime is a snapshot in our relationship. With our hectic schedules and cultural revolution, gone are the days when Mike and Carol put their books down and simultaneously turned out their bedside lights. Look at the whole of your relationship and how you are intimate in other settings, say watching TV or where you sit when you go out to eat, do you share a blanket on the beach and hold hands when you take a walk. Put all the snapshots together and take a step back. How does the picture look now?

Myself and my partner always fall asleep snuggled up together. I remember thinking how strange it was when I first slept with Sam, as he could go all night just holding me against him.
My previous partner always used to moan at me as I was always the one who wanted to cuddle before bed, and he'd hold me for about five minutes then want to turn over and if I'm honest it made me feel a bit lonely.
Now I feel really close to my current partner, I look forward to going to bed as he always gives me lots of affection and I can tell he really loves me from the way he holds me. It's even nicer waking up in the morning and he still has his arm around me, sometimes I even wake up to him kissing my neck. I really think I've found the man for me!

i have been with my husband for 7 yrs and love him dearly we go to bed at the same time and snuggle up to each other when we get into bed but both of us do turn over to our comfy spot as we call them that doesn't mean i love him less or he love me any less it means if we snuggle all night together we get to hot and are uncomfy so i feel that what position we sleep in does not change the way we feel about each other i think it means we have a trust and love between us that doesn't mean we have to be stuck together all night long the only time i feel lonely is when he's away
I don't necessarily agree. My husband and I have a great relationship. We go to bed at the same time and spend a minimum of 15 minutes snuggling and talking about our day. But, when it's actually time to go to sleep, we move to our respective sides. I get hot very easily and move around a lot before finding a comfortable sleep position. He gets sweaty when he sleeps. There's no way we would be able to comfortably sleep if we had to stay together all night.
Personal experience taught me that what this article says is true. I don't see that when the individuals go to bed has any relevance, because it's after both parties have been asleep awhile that the truth is told. When I found myself waking up in the crack between the waterbed mattress and the frame I knew the relationship was sunk!
I've never really thought about this before, but now that its been mentioned I started to analyze my sleeping positions. I was worried because my partner and I just got a king bed in order to be away from eachother. Haha. But honestly we have a great relationship. We just don't like to sleep on top of eachother. :)
This is nonsense...aches and pains, breathing difficulties, prostate problems can all mean that even the strongest couples don't necessarily sleep in the spoons position.
I think that while this may be true, it definitely is only true in ideal situations. After all, many things can interfere with your sleeping situations. The best look I think, is how we wake up together. After all, when we just wake up, we're fully relaxed.
I have to say I haven't found this to be the case in my marriage of over 20 years. We are happy and close (with the usual ups and downs, but nothing too major) but sleep differently. I am such a light sleeper, if he turns over, it will wake me up. I don't know how I would ever sleep if he was touching me! But we snuggle to say good night or good morning... does that count? Anyway, I do not see this as applying to us.
I agree. When I am mad about my husband I get as far away on our king size bed as possible!
Sorry, but I have to disagree on this idea. I get hot very easily, and my husband emits body heat like a furnace. Therefor, no cuddle.
Besides, I'm a stomach sleeper. Hard to cuddle on your stomach.
it's a good idea in theory, but in practice, i just don't see it being realistic. how my relationship is, in terms of quality, isn't affected by the fact that i am restless sleeper, and my husband is very hot natured. add in his back problems, and some nights we don't even sleep in the same bed. however, we have a fantastic marriage, and our sleeping arrangements don't affect this.
I didn't say how you fall asleep, but how you go to bed. Many people sleep physically apart after snuggling, but if you go to bed and rarely touch, even if it only a tender touch to the arm or shoulder to leg touching leg, I suspect something ain't right.
I don't necessarily agree with this. My significant other and I are very affectionate with each other, but since I get hot so easily, I can't get away from him far enough under the covers. Besides, he tosses and turns so much, I'd be black and blue if I tried to cuddle. Doesn't mean I love him any less, though.
I don't know if this idea is really legit. I mean, I like to not be so hot when I'm sleeping, but that doesn't mean I don't like being near him. It's just that when I want to sleep, I just want my space. I really can't agree with this blog. There are many things in life that will reveal about our relationship, but I don't think sleeping position is one of them.
