  • Neurotics don't feel entitled to what they do deserve;
  • Personality Disorders feel entitled to what they don't deserve.

In the battle between neurotics and personality disorders, neurotics are minced meat.

The measure of how severe a personality disorder is, is how ballistic, sullen or shut down they become when they come to you with a complaint or demand and you say (in a matter of fact vs. confrontational tone): "So, just deal with it."

If you are afraid of how ballistic, sullen or shut down the other person will respond if you say that (which is why you don't), you are most likely dealing with someone with a personality disorder.

Oh, that was great. Thanks. Very helpful. What about when this person is your mother, huh? You can't just walk away. You're the DAUGHTER so you're gonna have to "deal with it" yourself.
