Welcome to PeopleJam's Q & A, a regular feature where we interview influential life improvement authors, bloggers, PeopleJam members and individuals.
We have interviewed Brian Kim, an internationally known writer and founder of the influential self improvement blog BrianKim.net.

PJ: Brian, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Brian: Sure. I’m a big fan of reading. I’m a big fan of writing. And I’m a big fan of sifting through all the information on a given subject, structuring it so that there’s a clear logical order to the information and explaining it very simply and backing it up with iron clad logic and examples so anybody can understand what I’m trying to get across and benefit enormously from it.
It’s basically the way I approach everything I write.
I don’t want to be one of those writers that cop out and consistently go the easy route with “list” type articles or very superficial articles that just regurgitate everything readers already know.
PJ: What lead up to you creating BrianKim.net?
Brian: I saw that most of the self improvement information out there was much too superficial. There was no “depth” to it. It was either your typical run of the mill motivation junkie type article (“Yes! You can do it!”), or it was just regurgitated information everybody already knows (“You need to be persistent to achieve your goals”).
I figured I could provide a higher quality grade of information with my own writing and ideas.
PJ: Your site is a library of valuable articles. Where do you find inspiration?
Brian: Usually the articles stem from questions that everybody wants clear answers to, but unfortunately can’t find.
For example, the very first article I wrote, How to Find What You Love to Do, got over 13,000 visitors just on the very first day. It literally spread like wildfire all over the world.
The reason why it spread was because it wasn’t your typical run of the mill “find your passion” article.
It didn’t ask you what you would do if you had a million dollars.
It didn’t ask you to go on top of a mountain and meditate.
It didn’t ask you to open yourself up to the universe.
It gave clear, structured, logical information that anybody could apply and get real results from, and the readers loved it because of that.
It proved to be the basis on which all my other articles were written (here’s a few more examples to get an idea of what I’m talking about):
How to Believe You Can Do Anything
How to Really Make Money Online
Why Nice Guys Can’t Get Girls
PJ: I know you’re a fan of Napolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich.” Who are some of your other favorite life improvement authors?
Brian: I love them all. Dale Carnegie, Stephen Covey, W. Clement Stone, Norman Vincent Peale, you name it I probably read their works and loved it.
PJ: How do you think the internet has changed the life improvement industry?
Brian: I think it’s proven to be a double edged sword.
On the one hand, people get exposed to all sorts of new information that they never would have had access to before that could change their life.
On the other hand, it’s easy to suffer from “information overload”. So much information, which is right? Which is wrong? Which should you apply?
There needs to be something that can “filter” all that information out there to take the very best ideas and make them very easy for people to understand and to apply in their own lives in order to improve them.
That’s the way I view my site and I’m sure that’s the way you view PeopleJam as well.
PJ: What's the number one piece of advice you would give to people looking to improve their lives?
Brian: You’ve got to want it. You’ve got to really want it. Don’t get comfortable for too long. Complacency will lull you into a sense of stagnation. Always strive for the edge of the envelope. Push yourself. Get out of your comfort zone. Nobody can do it for you. You’ve got to do it yourself.
Thanks Brian! Be sure to check out BrianKim.net to see Brian's writing. He is truly motivational.

Here's what one of our readers had to say:
"BrianKim.net actually has insightful, in depth information which is a rare find amongst self improvement blogs. Most self improvement blogs are general, whereas the information on BrianKim.net is realistic and has real life applications." - PareCon80
I really am going to have to check this guy out. For a long time I have been away from the self help guru's. It is good to see all the new authors and reviews of them.
Brian's blog is definitely one of the best, if not THE best blog out there. It really is a cut above all the rest. His Hidden Secret book is one of the best books out there. I've never read anything like it. He's got a way of connecting ideas like nobody else can.
thisi is great
Agree with Brian. Many trainers/authors out there focus to get money, but I believe Brian is looking into GIVING to the world first... which is the thing we all should be concentrating... Got to check his site!
