“There is no better way to earn money than to do the things that you love to do. Money can flow into your experience through endless avenues. It is not the choice of the craft that limits the money that flows, but only your attitude toward money.” ~ Esther and Jerry Hicks from Money, and the Law of Attraction
So, what do you LOVE to do? I’m talking about the kinda thing that you love SO much, you’d PAY to do it. (You know, the stuff that makes you feel absolutely exhilarated!)
For me, it’s reading/learning/optimizing my life and inspiring others to live their greatest lives. I would literally pay to be able to do those things. (I’ve known this for the better part of 7 years but it took me about that long to *really* believe I can get paid to do it.)
Back to you: What do you love to do? Do you think you can get paid to do it?
Know that, in the words of Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” And Richard Bach: “Argue for your limitations and, sure enough, they're yours.”
You can make money in an infinite number of ways. What’s yours?
My Grandmother used to quote a poem, "If you think you are beaten - you are! Sooner or later the one who wins is the fellow who thinks he can." It's an old fashioned poem with a relevant message. Dreams are part of the process! I am a stay at home mom - the pay is low - but the rewards are many and (most days) I am doing exactly what I LOVE!
This is a great way to put things. I really do believe that you can be defeated by your own attitude. I know I need to be more positive in my life and I will think of this post when I get negative!
@triplecrown - AWESOME!!! go grandma!!!! too cool. and LOVE your passion! As Maslow points out, our need to self-actualize is totally individual. in one individual it may “take the form of the desire to be an excellent parent, in another it may be expressed athletically, and in still another it may be expressed in painting pictures or in inventing things.” so cool to see you rockin it!!!
@amanda - YES! it's amazing how powerful our minds are and how important our attitudes are. you might dig these quotes on attitude I've collected!

This is so true. Many people work to get paid but it is a much greater feeling getting paid to work. When you do something you love, I am not even sure it can be called work anymore. The taske becomes so effortless and you enjoy yourself so much more. keeping a positive outlook makes things that much better.
I love what I do but in all honesty I wouldn't pay to do it. I would do it for free on a part time basis though! I totally believe that attitude is everything!
I'm a stay-at-home wife who does mturk and other freelance-type jobs on the side as I have time, and I have never felt so fulfilled! Every job I had, I hated, regardless of what I was doing, because it took me away from my husband and made it hard on our relationship. This way, it's perfect. I'm here for him when he gets home each day with a warm meal on the table and a (somewhat!) clean house. I love to write, so there's plenty of time for me to write, whether it be for pay through freelancing or just for fun. I truly love what I do, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. For most of the freelance work I do, I get paid less than I would at any other job, but the "pay" of the benefits of doing what I love is worth more to me than any of that. It's so true - it's not your job that limits your money, it's your attitude toward money that decides whether it works for or against you. Great post!
Hmmm, that's an interesting question... what do I love to do? Well, I love to be friends with people and to help people with any problems that they might have. I also love woodworking and various crafts. Maybe I can think of a good way to combine those into a job that I LOVE. =) Thanks so much for the post - it's got me thinking hard!!
My two greatest passions are animal welfare and environmental welfare. If I could get paid to pet kitties and recycle all day, I would be in heaven! That said, I do get paid to have my kitty family via the love they show me. I also recycle everything I can and have made money via selling the cans and on promotions by companies like Pepsi, Coke, and Dr. Pepper. Its not enough to make a living, but it feeds my soul!
The one I really like to do has to be paid. Don't ask me what it is but the work I do, I also enjoy it but not as much as what I really want to do. That's probably why the money coming in is just sososo... :)
Your definitely right! You can only be successful into something if you love what you are doing. It is just like eating your favorite food. You will be fully satisfied if you like what you are eating. Doing things that you love to do will make you more knowledgeable and much more inspired to bring things into its success. Great post!
this is true in my life..i tried to earn in a way which is irrelevant to me.but, failed in that.then,i started doing the things i like and it really clicked.
awesome stuff, guys!
i did a little video of my journaling process you might like where I talk about the "hedgehog principle" of finding what you can be best in the world at, what you love the most, and what the world will pay for. you might likesy. :)
Doing what we love doing is so vital. My husband's a graduate civil engineer. Unfortunately he was given bad advice and followed it and changed his career. This wrong direction lasted 17 years for the both of us. Sounds pretty bad, doesn't it? He realized he needed to go back to his first love, and we really worked on returning to the original track. Now he LOVES going to work, doing what he should be doing!
Very inspirational! I find a lot of people WANT to follow their souls but are so socialized to want money more than anything else they fail to do so.
