I hope by now, you have started your Resolution Revolution Plan.  After you review your inventory list and begin to create your action plan, you will probably feel energized and motivated.  In the coming weeks we will work on planning techniques to keep you on track, but for today I would like to leave you with a new exercise to keep you moving in the right direction.

For years parents, teachers, spiritual leaders, even Bing Crosby have admonished us to count our blessings. While I do understand the value in recognizing and being grateful for that which is good in our lives, it is far more powerful to make your blessings count.

Counting our blessings allows us to see that we all have an abundance of something - in the Resolution Revolution Plan, our objective is to share our good fortunes rather than simply enumerate them.  It is straightforward if our abundance is tangible.  We may need to think about it a little more our blessings are skills, attributes, knowledge, circumstances or similar intangibles.

In 2009, rather than simply listing blessings, imagine what we can create by doing something constructive and sharing them!  This year, as you consider the year in review, what has meaning to you and what you would like to cultivate - take a moment to consider how to share your blessings and make them count!

This is a new twist on the old saying to count your many blessings. I LOVE it! I have often thought about my many blessings, but here is an encouragement to go beyond the normal everyday counting of blessings and to actually bless someone else! What a great concept.

I agree everybody should count there blessings, we shouldnt take everything for granted. Life is very hard and cruel but we all can deal with it if we do it right.

Ya.. I agree that every one shoul have their blessings counted...

Definitely agree. I have heard this also called gratitude recognition. I know for myself I try to be grateful for three things a day. My partner and I will share the three things we are grateful for before going to sleep each night. I do like the idea of sharing this with others though, especially if a blessing comes in a tangible form you can truly share.

This blog really made me feel a little better about my life. It is such a tough time right now that I think that sometimes we forget to remember the good that is going on in our life. Once I looked at the things that I was blessed with, I felt like it will all be o.k. if I just keep plowing ahead the best that I can!

I agree totally with this blog. The world would be such a better place if people became more concerned with what they can do for others and less concerned about their selfish desires.

This post made me really sit back and count my blessings. Things do not seem so overwelming when I do this. I also think that I can tackle tasks better because I am more likely to focus on the positive.

Totally true. People really should count their blessings. It could always be worse. Yes you are behind on your mortgage, bills, credit cards, car note, and little food in the fridge. At least you have what you have now. There is always hope and your determination for the future "haves".

What a great blog post. It is so nice to hear a positive message. Your so right about us all having an abundance of something!

Sharing your blessings is another way of paying it forward. We all have something that we can share, whether it be knowledge, skills, abilities, time, wealth (well, some people may still have some left!), or other tangible or intangible valuables. If we could all do one simple little random act of kindness each day, everyone would be better for it. This year, in addition to counting our blessings, let's try to share some of our own abundance with those less fortunate. Carpe diem!

How true. On a bad day (like I'm having today) this really makes you think about the good things in life.

It is a great concept and I liked it very much. Sharing some thing good with others is not an easy job but the author has shown us why our blessing should be shared. If every one of us is ready to share our abundance with needy people then this world will become a global village in real terms. It is a great writing and I think everybody should read this.

After clicking over and reading what it's all about, I have to agree. Too bad there's not more time in the day to be more attentive. Paying attention to what we have is so important!

I've always heard of "count your blessings" - but this is a great idea to "make your blessings count"!! Thanks for sharing!

Great post! Yeah1 You're right. Many people now are thinking that they haven't got what they deserve in the previous year. Some people even forgot that they already have what they should have in order to live and and survive. Some people never realized that they have much more blessings than the other. I myself have also experienced this kind of thinking. But I then realized that I should be thankful for I could still eat anytime I want compare to other people in the world that only eat once a day or even worst they eat once for three days. Thanks a lot for your post! This is amazing!

i agree all the way. a lot can happen if you keep them blessing counted. that way, you will always know where stuff comes from too!

Great blog. We should not only count our blessings, but share them and acknowledge them by blessing others, as well.

Nice blog and this is a great way to not only be thankful for what we've got but also to pay it forward. To pass on the blessings that we are so lucky to have to others and acknowledge the ones that make it possible for us. Thanks.

Its often hard to look past negatives, sometimes its really is your glass half empty or half full situation, and its all about perspective. Most people are going to take the easy way out and complain and focus on a negative, but its a much better plan overall to "make your blessings count". I think everyone has been gifted with something, and its up to you to find out what that is and grow from it rather than dwell on a negative and neglect your blessings.
