Im an 19 year old girl and i have some major hair problems, i have unwanted hair on my lower back, stomach, and chest it drives me crazy, i shave it off but it just comes back worse, makes my skin terrible and i get ingrowing hair, so if someone was looking close enough they would know hair use to be there anyways. What can i do? I can't just let it grow, it's making me v. depressed.

Any advice would be appreciated, and please keep in mind im very senstive about the topic, thats why i've asked about it on this site, because its too hard to go to doctors about it.

You may want to consider electrolysis; here's one of many links found on the Internet.

I voted yes so hopefully people will see this blog and offer more help than I probably can. Have you been tested for polycistic ovarian syndrome? Hirsuitism, or excessive body hair in females, is one of the main symptoms of it. It's nothing to be ashamed of, in most simple terms, it's a hormone imbalance. I hope you find help with this!

Well I agree with Joe B. Electrolysis and waxing will be your main solutions. Good luck with this and i am sure you will find your way out. Ciao for now.

I have never had this problem but would like to encourage you to see your doctor. I know it is embarrassing for you, however excessive hair growth can be caused by certain medical conditions and I would not want you not knowing whether something is wrong or not. I don't do waxing or electrolysis, I am a simple gal and Nair seems to do just fine for me even with thick hair growth. Stinky, yes but the ingrown hairs and pain, I don't have so I welcome a little 4 minutes of stinkiness. I am thinking like a writer above that it is all hormonal which is a simple fix. Please visit your doctor. I wish you well.

I, too, voted yes so others would see this post and offer solutions. Good luck to you!

You should see a dermatologist, who can help with exactly this problem. Shaving isn't a great solution, because you have to do it so frequently. Have you tried a depilatory cream, such as Nair? Try that on one area, and see how it works out for you. Also, there's waxing and epilators. Good luck!

My best friend has had really good luck with electrolysis. She has been doing it for years (as she has a lot of hair and the sessions have to be repeated). She says its painful but that it has helped her self-esteem SO much! I would recommend this. You could also try Nair or some other depilatory cream. That would last longer than shaving at least. Good luck!

personally, I would just rock it out b/c everyones got hair, and unless you can like braid it I wouldn't worry. Since it seems to bother you that much you can get it lasered off which is expensive, waxed (professionally, bad things can and HAVE happened)Veet hair removal cream; use the gentle kind they make for sensitive areas, chemical burns can be nasty :P, and if you abosultely are gunna save up for the laser treatment, I would shave less often so the hair won't grow back as quickly. Just remember that its just hair and there are so many worse things in the world. wishing you luck (:

I think you should go to the hospital and explain your problem to them. There are several things you could do to help make your situation better. They have medication for everyone today, and I'm sure there's something they can do for you. I think that PCOS could be a good possibility. And, there are medications and procedures they can do to help fix your problem. I hope I've been some help and good luck in whatever you do.

I am yet another poster urging you to get tested for PCOS. I have PCOS and a medication or two can easily turn things around for you in a short time. Until you find out why it is happening I'd wax instead of spending money on permanent removal.
